GC and Pennington play this week I think. I have seen both, and could be very interesting. Slight edge to GC IMO.

yep. its never a smart indicator to rely on. Kids get hurt, kids move, kids stop playing, kids dont pan out, etc...

also, most times the best kids are already to the next level and not playing with the right teams.

Brad Robbins, who was in my class, never played JV ball with us. He was varsity full-time. A few JV players would practice with the varsity, but only a few did not play with the JV team.

why does just some Jv players practice with the varsity team? I know all of the JV team at Gate City practices with varsity. Just wondering...

I don't know of anywhere where 8th grade kids practice with varsity, other than preseason conditioning type work. What Biggin' is saying is that lots of times a handful or even several freshmen are pulled to varsity to contribute or even start. 4 years ago 2 of this years starters were freshmen and started for the varsity. They didn't participate in JV.

me and donovan mabe got pulled up to practice with varsity after our 8th grade games were done, this was at appalachia eons ago. mostly just there to fill gaps, no full contact stuff

Well, I'm starting to get confused again. The thread started about Varsity, jumped to 8th grade, and ended up JV. :confused: Now all I need is for someone to throw P-Nut League in!

people trying to figure out when to start redshirting so GC wont be the only team with 25 year olds..................... :lol:

The Hicks kid on GC 8th grade is gonna be a star, his grandfather said they went somewhere and played and they accused them of bringing their JV because there were so many of them.
